Stainless steel or zinc-plated? Because synthetic decking is non-corrosive, the self-piercing screws that attach the fasteners to the decking are normally zinc-plated. For most installations this type of screw is adequate. In marine environments stainless steel screws are recommended. Stainless steel screws do cost more. They are also a bit more labor intensive to install due to the fact that they will not magnetize. When ordering, please choose either stainless steel or zinc plated self-piercing screws. The cabinet screws are ACQ compatible and will work in both marine and non-marine environments.
